Finally got it done! 181 to 183-deg with 45-deg to 50-deg ambient temp. It was a drop from 188 to 194-deg when I used the factory 180-deg termostat.

@Extinct - Getting an error code because my 04 Disco is too cold (less than 175F) Should I swap out the thermostat with a higher temp unit during the winter or is it just an idiot code that has no impact on performance?

P0126? You can either simply clear the fault or switch to a 190F/195F, but personally on my 04 with SAI which gets that fault with a stock LR style 180F grey thermostat I would rather run cooler and simply clear the fault vs run hot.

Don't remember which thermostat you ordered but I will say some of the 180's are opening earlier than expected. I had to pull one out of my rig because I was running in the 160's (it was a 180). I can warranty it out with a replacement if you like, or you can put a 190 in. It typically is a winter only phenomenom.

Interesting I have never seen that fault, I was under 174 for a good 20 minutes one day, 10F to 5 F, not a code although my dodgy O2 popped a code

Finished the install. Best mod I've done to the disco yet! Thanks Extinct! Before and after temps were after driving the same route in ambient temps in the mid 50's. The rover always ran 210-220 no matter the outside temperature.

As long as it won't cause any long term issues I am fine with it. I just wanted to be sure.

No long term issues, just an annoying code. You can swap an early ECU in if you want to run low temps all the time without the code. In all months other than winter they go from stone cold to 180 so fast due to radiator and water pump capacity that thermostat has minimal effect. In the winter the temp differential is high enough the radiator can hold the temp lower for longer.

Just installed my @Extinct in line thermostat. Was super easy. So excited to have my overheating issues behind me. Thank you extinct for this product and great write up. Havent seen temps over 200 since the install!! When it gets a little warmer here im gonna be installing all new hoses, radiator, and flowkooler water pump.

I replaced my radiator with a Nissens unit a couple weeks ago since I had some downtime. Seems the new rad might not be flowing or something even though it was. BNIB unit from FCPEuro. I'm getting really spikey temps around town which I thought might be air in the system still but I've rebled a couple times already. On the freeway, I'm seeing around 188F at 65MPH in 50-60F ambients. Today was about 70F and I saw 202F on the freeway doing 60mph. Going to try popping out the thermostat to see if that's the issue although I replaced it recently with a new unit as I picked up some spares from Extinct. Should have tried running no stat when I replaced but i didn't think of it at the time.

Interestingly, around town is mostly fine but i'll spike from 181 to 193 then it'll drop down to 166 and then back to 183 for a little bit. Usually a little bit of throttle will get the temp from 188-193 back to 180ish which combined with the higher temps on the highway, I'm thinking I may have gotten a bad radiator.
