I have not personally used the single edelbrock gasket, but Best4x4 has stated it only required one and sealed just fine. The kit comes with two heavy paper gaskets that also work fine but I recommend using silicone in the instructions just be absolutely sure of no leaks. The advantage of the Edelbrock gasket is you can reuse it over and over.

RoverSE7, I can't tell which year truck you have from your sig but the most common kit used is the 180 degree kit with the port down because it fits the radiator shroud best. If you are not using an aftermarket temp gauge/sensor you don't need the port up. If your truck is pre-03 you can run a 170 degree thermostat but its not really needed.

Correct only need one, gasket is re-useable, and not a drop of RTV.

I will purchase this kit and the Edelbrock gasket seems to make the most sense to keep these trucks cool. I have 2 Discos 04 SE7 and and 04 SE. The SE7 will be restore for resale and the SE I will rig for trails and overlanding. LOL I'm not sure even how to even change my signature . Must have a thread on this somewhere

Default This is the Best Mod for a D2 Engine.

I can't believe the new running temperatures - 182 Freeway, 186 in town, 188 for less than 10 seconds at the top of the grade on Altamont Pass (1,000 ft) @ 65 MPH. Ambient temp was 81.
Temperature was off my Scangage.

Thank you Extinct.!

What size is that top radiator hose? 1.5 inch OD?

I want to order some Heavy duty SS hose clamps for this project.

Thanks!

Cool, I just ordered one. I have a slightly more complicated inline setup with a bleed T at the location of the @Extinct thermostat and the thermostat housing in my kit down by the radiator inlet hose. My temps are pretty good except for in very hot conditions going up long steep grades. I will be curious to see if this will be any different.

So this is my first post on this forum I did the modification to my by 2004 D2
Kept running in the upper 190s to 205°
after the modification I have not seen a temperature go above 188°
this is probably the best modification you can do to a Land Rover when you get it!
