Jiffy lube will use a cheap oil filter but any brand of oil that you ask for.
If you want Quaker Statethen ask for it, Valvoline, ask for it, Mobil 1, ask for it.
You can go to NAPA and buy your own oil filter and have them put it on for you.

Fram, Purolator and Wix are the oil filters that the quick lubes use, they just put their own name on them.

 

Thanks spike my next question is how do you fill them if they are low? Tapper, I have been taking my own filter to the jiffy lube place because they use regular filters with the synthetic and I wanted something that would last a little over 3,000 miles. It only saves you around a buck off the oil change which I think sucks but at least I know my oil is cleaner. Our local auto supply stoers here always have deals where you can get 5 or 6 qts offull synthetic and a good filter for around 30 bucks.

 

Well they are supposed to be checking and topping off your driveline fluids at the quick lube when they change your oil. Ask them to make sure that they do it.
The easiest way for you to do it yourself is with a fluid hand pump, you can buy one at any autoparts store.
You dont need a good one, the $5 pump will do just fine.
You can also have the quick lube change your t-case and diff fluids for you, its about $50. More if you want full synthetic.

 

If you want to use a lube shop make sure to take your own filter, a K&N 3001 or a Mobil1-301 have them use it and give you credit for their junk filter.

 

When where all you other fluids changes, should be every 30,000 or less and checking them isn't going to keep your truck serviced properly.

 

They were replaced about 20,000 miles ago when I purchased the truck so I prob need to do that again soon. Spike the lube place has been checking that stuff for me but only because I didn't know how to do it. It makes me sick having to rely on the lube place to get it right and its about $85 a pop, so I am trying to do it all myself again. I just don't want to forget something that they have been checking and wind up screwing myself. I am assuming you just pump it in until it runs over? Any reccomendations on which brands to use?

 

Yes, you pump it in until it come out.
As for brands...any name brand will do. I use full synthetic 85w-140 and change it every 50,000 miles.
Diff fluid doesnt break down like motor oil does, it lasts for a long time, especially full synthetic.
My FedEx van has 206,000 miles on it with the original diff fluid in it.

Alot of guys on here like the K&N oil filters, I wont pay $12 for a oil filter when a $5 filter does the same job just as well as the $12 filter.
