oil change time!!!
The capacity is 7 quarts. I don't think 20-50 is recommended by LR. Spike will recommend 15-40 but I personally have switched to Royal Purple 5-40 because of where the truck is located. 15-40 would be too thick for me when it gets cold.
Depending on where you live and how cold it will get before your next oil change...20W-50 will work just fine. That is what I used to use in full synthetic form but I cannot get it anymore so I switched to 15W-50.
The "W" stands for winter use. So if it has a "W" in the nubers then it is ok to use in the winter.
Where do youi live?

Agreed, I use 15W-50 and my LR and my wifes Volvo are both quieter than it I used a 10W-XX, like I said the only reason I stopped using the 20W-50 is because I cannot find it anymore in a full synthetic.
I ran it in my '01 Montero from the first oil change at 5,000 miles until I had to get rid of it at 100,000 miles, changed it every 5,000 and never once did I have to add oil or ever have a oil PSI issue, even in the dead of winter and it was below zero.
That engine was as clean after 100k as the day I brought it home with 62 miles on the OD.
I used Castrol Syntec.
If your tight BMW can take it then your loose Rover can too.
