Default Oil Cooler ?

I think my 02 Disco II has the Engine Oil Cooler. It is within the VIN# Range. And there are some tubes running to and from the oil pump housing.Could someone explain it's operation to me? Is it an air exchange cooler or is it water cooled? Any benefit or drawbacks to having one? Have read that they can sometimes prevent the oil from heating to proper temp to burn off any fuel/condensation.

Thanks,

John

Your oil cooler is an air cooled system, benefits are keeping the engine operating temp designed by Rover, they do not plug up or get restricted as long as you do your 3000 mile oil changes. They are not a problem for letting the engine get to operating temp, the t/stat takes care of that.

10-4, where is the exchanger? Is it a stacked plate type system in front of the radiator?

No problem with the OCI. I'm extremely **** about changing the oil on time.

Thanks Mike.

Yes, it is mounted in front of the radiator,
Living in Colo, my 99 warms up plenty fast when it is 5 or 10 degrees out in the AM.

Thanks Mike. I finally found it on my Rave CD. Good to know I have it with an aluminum engine.
