Just got this 2004 Petrol Landrover Discovery II back from being ‘fixed’ and it has an oil leak, I’ve managed to see where the leak is coming from. Can anyone tell what is causing the leaks and if this is a simple fix or a more complex one?
this leak seems to be the biggest:
There is also a smaller leak here:
lastly I found a drop of oil here, but it could have spread from somewhere else:
one leak is a transfer case seal to transmission - you can tell it is oil leak not transmission fluid - other could be transmission cooler line but I would not sweat either one of these from pictures
So There PVC Mod is in my plans, but I'm not sure if this leak is due to that, I think disco69 is right and it looks like it might need a new gasket, or maybe just some tightening. I know some oil leaks are normal, but this was filled with oil last week, after a 400 mile trip its half empty, that seems a bit excessive.
I've mistaken an oil leak in that area for liquified grease splattered around from the driveshaft joints. Your driveshaft looks pretty dry there, so probably not that, but just a heads up for future searchers.

I think you’re right actually, after putting a rag under it, I’m seeing that it’s a pink fluid, I think that’s the steering fluid that’s leaking, at quite an alarming rate (a drop every second or so.) Hopefully it’s just a loose or degraded seal, but I think I’ll have to take it in as I don’t have stands where I am.
Very common for PS pump to leak, 98% of the time it is the gasket on the rear of the pump. Plugged baffle is responsible for most engine oil leaks, depending on how plugged it gets I have seen intake gaskets blown completely out. Check the tightness of the outer valve cover bolts, the gaskets shrink over time and heat cycles and loosen up.
The transfer case leak is rarely the seal between the trans and tcase, 99% of the time it is the center shaft o-ring leaking, you can see my post on the LT230 leak.
Recommend either cleaning with oven cleaner or adding UV dye to the oil reservoirs and using a uv light to trace the leak source.
