change the oil & filter, if it is still low you will have to check the oil preasure with an external oil preasure gauge

I replaced my oil pump when I had the cover off anyway, it was not cracked and looked in good shape. I check oil pressure numbers after the gear change and got a consistent across the board increase of about 5psi. Before you do anything you really should get a oil pressure reading to verify its not a faulty oil light sensor, but its most likely a cracked pump gear and the folks who said replacing the cracked gear did not help pressure probably already had excessive bearing wear from running with the faulty pump so, the damage was already done.

I have the same issue in my 2000 Discovery 2. I bought it 90 days ago and the oil light came on when idling for a while then would shut off when driving. My mechanic is doing a flush per some info we found in other forums. Where can I find the oil pump repair kit for $115?
Thanks

Atlantic british sells the parts. Depending on miles it might be a good time to change timing chain and water pump since it will be apart anyway.

Thanks! Unfortunately the timing chain and water pump will have to wait. I just had to buy an alternator and will have to get new tires as well.
It just hit 100K this week.

Many of us are forced by fiscal reality to seek solace in the boneyard where alternators can be had under $50. I paid $6 for a water pump, it was cleaner than the rest of the engine.
