Default Oil in my water pump?

Pretty sure I know the answer, but praying for a miracle.

Is this oil coming from my water pump?

If so, my head gaskets are probably toast right?

Are you talking about the RED stuff? Isn't that just a gasket sealer? Is it wet or just painted on there and dry?

If oil was coming out of water pump, then oil would also be in coolant or vice versa. As mentioned, coolant pressure tester, and closely examine. There is no oil behind the water pump gasket, but there is behind the front cover gasket. Seems like kit of both gaskets, new oil pump gears, front seal - runs about $110. But budget for a water pump and new fan clutch as well. Exam the timing chain for slop while open. And with oil pan off clean the pickup screen and renew the seal on the pickup tube.

timing case cover is a pretty common leak on these, usually noticed by a water leak but not always, the timing case cover can leak oil

Exactly. The front cover gasket has only a small area around the two water pump passages for coolant, the rest of the perimeter is oil gasket.

Yes, I was talking about the red stuff. It looks brown in some areas, so I thought it was oil.

The odds are that it is gasket sealant.

I've used gasket sealer that looks exactly like the red in that photo, that would be what I'd think it is. Especialy if it does not just wipe off. It feels a little like hard rubber cement that's dried.

PS: The photos don't seem to be showing anymore. I'm guessing that's why nobody else mentioned gasket sealer.
