Unhappy Oil pressure light finally found me

Well, after avoiding the dreaded oil pressure warning light for over two years of me owning the truck, it is on solid as of sunday. Yes, my 03 falls into the dreadind VIN range, but my mileage is 90K+ so I had hoped to ride the wave warning light-free. I have not started it since it stayed on when I started it sunday morning to go to church. I am having it towed to a local shop tomorrow and will let you all know the dreaded outcome.

I hope I am reading your thread wrong. Did you have the light come on and off for 2 years before acting???????????????????
Is this local shop familiar with this problem, if not don't use them. Let us know what you find out prior to doing any repairs based on parts and labor estimate.

No Mike, the light had never come on before. I was just waiting for it to since I am in the VIN range. Started the truck Sun. morning and the light stayed on and would not go off so I shut it down. Was towed this morning to the only shop around that I know has any experience with Rovers. Should hear something from them today or tomorrow.

Just got a call from the shop. Oil pressure was tested and is ZERO. We are looking to replace the pump and go from there.

they are actually going to drop the pan and check the bearings and pick up tube before proceeding. No reason to replace the front cover/oil pump if the engine is bad from the low pressure.

Better consider a new front cover also.

Default Oil Pressure VIN range

What is the VIN range for the oil pump issue you referred to?

Thanks
