Oil pump cover plate removal questions

Good morning everybody...I need some advice on removing the plate over the oil pump gears on a front cover.
I have removed the cover plate on 3 of these and never had a problem. I usually just use a correct size phillips and tap it with a hammer while turning and they break loose but, I'm working on one now that someone must have used red loctite or something because none of the screws are budging.
I was thinking of using an old style impact screwdriver (the kind you hit with a hammer) with the front cover supported evenly on wooden blocks to keep from damaging it but, so far I can't find my phillips tip to fit it. I'll probably have to get one of the tips and if I go that route.
Is it ok to apply heat to this part? I was thinking of firing up the torch and applying a little heat to each screw and then trying to remove them but don't want to warp anything. Anybody used heat on these? or has anybody had any that just don't want to give it up?
I've soaked it in my parts washer for several days and these suckers are just not wanting to turn loose!
What about a little acetone applied right on each screw? Would that maybe dissolve whatever they put on the threads? or would it even get in there to the threads?
I don't want to bugger up the screw heads so am trying to figure out my next plan of attack.
drowssap, offroadfrance, dusty, jared, anybody...
any and all tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated and may keep me from pulling my hair out... or worse... screwing up my front cover!

thanks abran, I'll see if I can find a phillips tip for that today or may just have to buy another impact screwdriver. I doubt anybody in my area sells just the tip?
This is what I get for leaving my tools scattered.

I rebuilt my pump on post#58,59, and 60 of my rebuild thread. There are some pictures and info of the process you might want to check out: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...o-month-47324/
I used a 1/2"to 3/8" adapter, then I used a 1/4 socket that fit a regular drill bit perfect.

thanks jared, I'll try that. I have all of that..if I have a phillips bit with the correct size tip.
Then what? you just used a ratchet on it?
oops! I'll go check your thread.
ok went and looked....so you used that setup on an air impact?
I have some air impacts but was afraid it may bugger up the screw head.

Be sure to find a bit that fits the screw perfect. If there is any wiggle room do not use it, you will round the screw.

I suppose I can take a screw out of another cover to carry with me while shopping for the bit.
