Oil temperature gauge?

I picked up a combo oil pressure gauge and temp gauge. I have a Scangauge which gives me water temps, so I'm thinking of setting up the temp gauge for oil temperature. Is there any value to an oil temp gauge?

Sure it tells you what the temperature of your oil is, which is really more useful than coolant temperature.

Thx, I was just wondering if its a waste of time or not.
Btw, what should the oil temp sit at? I've searched everywhere but cannot find much info.
