what is an average oil use?
i added 3/4 qt in 5k milesof synthetic.

Dont worry about adding until you can add a full quart.
Your changing it every 5,000 miles anyway, right?
Seriously, dont go any longer than 5,000 miles between oil changes. But one quart every 5k is fine.
One quart ever 1500 miles is to much.

That's a good quantified rule of thumb. I like that.

When I bought my truck at 55K miles (10 months ago), it was running dino oil. I used about 3/4 of a quart in 5K miles. Changed it to RP, and after 3K, I haven't lost any noticeable amount.

 

That is about normal.
