Ok short term? Larger tires on factory suspension
Hi Guys,
I'm planning to do a full suspension upgrade (front springs, rear SLS spacers, SS brake lines, ABS sensor extensions) with a 2" lift, but am not quite ready to make that purchase. However, I do need to purchase tires and I'd rather not go back with the factory size since I know I will get around to the lift kit long before the tires wear out. Do any of you have experience running a larger tire with the factory ride height? I would not be doing any off-roading under these circumstances, I'm just trying to split up the purchases into more manageable bites. The tire size that seems to be popular with a 2" lift is 275/65/R18. I've got my eye on the new BFG A/T K02's. I figure they might rub a bit at full wheel lock, but other than that I would think I'd be ok.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Two things, don't worry about ABS extensions, they will not be needed with that lift. Second, go buy some used tires until you can install the lift and look closely at Good Year Dura Trac tires. I have had a few sets of BFG's and loved them but the Dura Trac's are far better.
I'm running 265/65r18s on stock with no rear sway and disconnects on the front. I don't get scrub anywhere, even disconnected at full flex. You'll be fine for a while, might have to trim the front bumper a little if you're stock, but just be easy on it and you'll be fine.
I Do, however, agree that you should check out the duratecs. Great tire.
