I have written to the Governor or MI several times with no luck to pass a law that if your windshield wipers are on your headlights must also be on no matter the time of day.
I am so sick and tired of people driving in the snow and rain with no lights on.
You mean it's not? I thought all states had this as a law by now ...

Nope, as far as I know it is not a law, and if it is it is not enforced.
At least not here in Michigan anyway.

I find I never followed up on this thread:

In Florida, at least, the law is that if the estimated visibility is under -- I think it's 1000', then you have to have your lights on -- or any time your need your wipers on.

Default PA Too...

I checked, it is the law in PA

"Effective January 29, 2007 all motorists in Pennsylvania MUST turn on their headlights whenever they use their windshield wipers in inclement weather. This new law applies when wipers are fully on or in intermittent mode. Violators will be fined $25 but fees/other costs will increase the amount to $100."

As it should be...

And in Pennsylvania you need your headlights on in road construction zones, and since all PA roads are in a perpetual state of construction, lights seem to be on all the time.

You can try, but common sense can't be achieved by making laws. This is a good example, as lights on in construction zones in broad daylight is a moronic thought that only someone with more "good intentions" than brains could come up with. Lights on when it rains is the law in my state, and the cops never enforce it, nor do they enforce perpetual left lane driving. In fact the cops are usually the most easily spotted offenders. The use of turn signals is also apparently mandated by law, although you'd never know it.

The point is you'd be happier if you stop worrying about others actions and realize that life is full of morons, laws will not change that, but they have a proven record of making things more complicated, more expensive and more intrusive.

" in Canada its a law to have some sort of lights in the front of your car on at all times."

Some provinces in Canada may require running lights on new vehicles, but provincial laws, not federal laws govern auto's.
There is no Canadian federal law requiring some sort of light at all times. I live in Alberta, was a cop for 30yrs, and know there is no law requiring lights at all times on my Disco.
