Default OME spring selection question

OME uses the following convention:
  • 0LBS TO GVW
  • 220LBS TO GVW
  • 440LBS TO GVW
I didn't find an explanation what that means in particular. Is it load over GVW or is it load from to GVW?

Currently I have all stock. I want stronger springs in the back. On trips the Disco is loaded with 3 kids, stuff in the trunk to the ceiling and I have load on the roof (about 100-150lbs) as well as a hitch carrier (about 200lbs). When I add up everything it is about GVW, but not more.

It's not a daily driver, although I use it for driving short distances in town.

Are 220LBS TO GVW (2762) springs too hard? How do they compare to TF?

Thanks.

I'm nearly certain this means weight added to the GVW capacity. I've been researching this exact same thing for the exact same reason (fully loaded disco for a trip this summer). I don't DD mine but don't want a crap ride either when it's not loaded up so my current plan is put D1 spring spacers in the back for a very slight lift.

Currently I have air helper springs in the back and that compensates for the sag and supports the load. I want better off-road capabilities over stock and replace a worn out suspension. I just would like to know if 2762 (HD in the back) is horrible or not when driving empty.

I have the OME HD springs you mentioned above with OME Nitro shocks and yes it is a bit stiff unloaded. It reminds me of an F250/350 unloaded. I had about 400lbs in the cargo area recently and it was a lot smoother but not like stock springs for sure. The sagging was minimal. It was 400lbs of dirt in bags for a garden and decided to experiment with the D2 versus a pickup.

I have the HD OME currently in my rear (220lb+) of my 04 - Every so often I’ll drive it for a few days/week to put some miles on it - use it for beach & overland. I have a permanent drawer system with tools and equipment - a fridge &/or cooler is packed typically when I take it out.
I find the HD springs are not bad whatsoever. Loaded it handled very well. Not really any sway or too rough. I did all the math & can easily calculate additional tare weight over stock GVW (empty) with what I would be leave in my truck semi permanent, vs packed up on top of that (GLVW) gross loaded vehicle weight.

currently I have the drawer system pulled out and trunk gutted - as I’m converting a new build onto another d2 - since March I’m driving around with gutted rear end on HD springs (using fox shocks) and I honestly really don’t feel much difference in stiffness. I have a stock D2 which I lm converting and that rides on air bags which is apples and oranges - but the stiffness of the HD is really no problem whatsoever -
infact I have the EXTRA HD /440lbs springs in a box im going to install on new build - I have a rear steel bumper from RTE with a swing arm & larger tire to add weight & my new drawer system is a little heavier. So my I need to see for myself about the spring difference.

Every day. My daily for work is a Ford 250 & 350 pickup. So I’m quite literally hopping out of the empty disco these days into to pickup and there is ZERO comparison. The disco still rides like a disco, & no comparison to stiff suspension as a pickup.

I wouldn’t be intimidated - I had to see for myself too. The OMe have held up very well. Good paint, good ride.

I would like the weighted spring conversations on here to pizza. Everyone has a different personal opinion on what they feel is the best.
