Default coolant change out

How often does everyone change out their coolant? Or perform a coolant flush? Would yearly be obsessive? It's been two years since my Turner engine install, and don't want to screw it up.

Most coolants (even dex-cool) is rated for 5 years. But the way Disco's leak and things go wrong (like thermostat's and water pumps) I don't see how anyone could not change it sooner just because of the random things going wrong requiring to drain the coolant.

This is me.

I also have a Turner in my 03. Between swaping plastic for metal parts in the cooling system, the T bleeder failing, and trying out different thermostats and set ups my coolant is been changed and changed again likely an other time all with in a few years.

A flush makes more sense when replacing the radiator with a new one. The stuff collecting at the input the lower channels won't come out with a coolant flush.

Its pretty easy to disconnect the lower rad hose, let it drain, raise the res, put 1 or 2 bottles of coolant in there until it is gushing out the bottom, reconnect it and bottle it all back up. Don't forget to bleed!

You will get at least 50% of the coolant with this quick flush method and doing it every year or so would keep the coolant fresh.
