Original "Factory" Bumpers
I'm sure others asked this in the past so now its my turn. Obviously Land Rovers NOS supply of front and rear bumpers for the D2 have been depleted and are now obsolete. With that being said has anyone heard about a company planning to reproducing them? There's recently been a few obsolete parts reproduced for the D2 such as Windshield wiper cowl, front pillar post trim, grilles.... which is a start. There 'seems to be a market for reproductions with the D2 so the question is......will somebody do this? hey....maybe someone will even reproduce those Roof Drip Molding Rails and pieces. Is that asking too much?
Fully agree.
There is a company called Octoclassic who makes a bunch of old 80's/90's M-B plastic parts that I've had my eye on... and another one called Classic Trim Parts (who is owned by a really interesting guy who makes medical supply equipment, and then started making painstakingly perfect exact repro parts for W124/R129 Mercedes convertibles (of which I have one). I did mention to him at Pebble Beach / Monterey Car week last year that the RRC and D2 are ripe for a parts remaking exercise. Notably, none of his stuff is 3D printed, which is very cool. It would be easy for them to do the drip rails (the long side piece may be trickier), and that sort of thing.
It stings to know that someone will tap or lightly breathe on my rear bumper and it'll crack into pieces as a result...and no new ones are available.
