Default other engines compatible to my 03 disco

Hello all

No compression in my engine. I'm guessing it got hot enough to release the tension on the piston rings. Anyways I'm looking for an engine and I'd much rather find one within driving distance. NE TN. So I'm gonna call around to all the junkyards and such to see if they have anything. My question is... Are any other engines a direct swap in my 03. I know there's a thread started about a 4.0 Range engine in a 4.0 Disco so I was jw if any of the 4.6 Ranges had the same engine as me.

Thanks for the input guys!

no compression on ANY cylinder? I think I would check again with a different pressure tester before buying a new engine.

No compression on #7 and it seriously sounds like a midget is standing in my engine bay beating on the block with a hammer.

4.6L Range Rover engines from '98-'02 will work from what I've read.

Some might not have secondary air. Just use your old heads in that case.

If money was no object couldn't you order a diesel from Europe? Obviously there would be more involved this way but it would be pretty sweet when you were done...

That's what I would prefer but idk if I wanna throw out that much money. I'm pretty sure ECR can locate an engine and trans and do everything completely but like I said that's a lot of $. I could buy quite a few parts for the price of that swap.

use the search function on here, there are some good threads that discuss gas and diesel engine swaps and the cost of each.
