Overheating on long(ish) idle.
Hey guys. So, today while sitting in traffic for a few minutes (4-5 at most), I noticed my temperature gauge climb to almost the very top, but when I revved the RPMS and drove a little ways, it went back down to the normal temp. I parked at my destination and let it sit for a few hours. When I started my Disco back up, the temperature was fine and never raised, even during traffic lights. It wasn't a very hot day, it was about 77 degrees when my Disco started getting hot. It's a '99 D2 by the way. So, any suggestions on what might be causing the overheating? Is it a big deal, or is it a problem at all? I know it's a common problem for these engines to overheat, especially in idle. But sitting in idle is usually what makes any type of car overheat anyway. Even without problems. It may be nothing, but I just want some peace of mind. Should I get this looked at soon, or should I see if any problems persist and then get it looked at? I know about Land Rovers, but I'm no mechanic. What do you guys think it may be?
Yes, you should get it looked it. Overheating isn't something I'd treat as a wait and see. You do NOT want to slip a sleeve.

I know it's a common problem for these engines to overheat, NO.
especially in idle.NO.
