Overheating and Three Amigos
Hey guys, sorry I've been away for a while. This week my disco decided to have some issues... After 8 months of NOTHING i am kind of mad this is all happenning all the sudden. Early this week, I got the three amigos, and Im pretty sure I know the drill with that (bring it into a placethat has the rover computers and get them cleared/checked..) But my main concern is, today I was driving home and my temp gage shot up and the red warning light came on. When I parked I opened the hood and found water had spewed out on the left side of the engine. What is causing this? and is it simply that I need to replace the water (or antifreeze)?? Hopefully its nothing serious, just let me know what you guys think caused this.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yes, Left top I believe. It looked like it was coming out of the white thingy on the left side at the top(excuse my lack of auto vocabulary) It has a yellow tag around the cap and it says h2O and a few other things. If that doesnt clear it up let me know.
Yeah that confuses me even more Cam, sorry.
I was thinking it is leaking from the throttle body heater plate gasket, a very common leak on DII's.
I know its dark out, but a pic would be helpful.
Dont drive it until you can fix it.

No, i dont think its that. I am positive its just water and I will try to get a picture up tomorrow. I am going to have to bring into a shop soon anyways, I need to deal with this, along with the amigos, and my AC is STILL broken. I think my disco just wants to be in the shop, its begging.
Sounds like you got right and left mixed up and are referring to the expansion tank/coolant reservoir. Do you see any other leak sources, or just that one? Fill the system with water at least, have it pressure tested, and see where it is coming from.
First, You need to fill the coolant bottle, bleeding the system as you go, then start the engine and let it warm up, looking for any leaks from the coolant bottle. Let it cool off, don't drive it and refill again. Then get it to a mechanic to have them find and repair the problem. What ever you do, do not drive and let it over heat agin or you could be looking at a new engine.
