Default Oxidation on roof

I know this isn't a mechanical question but I didn't find any info anywhere else. Does anybody else have a problem with oxidation on the roof? Since I've found it on my roof I've been looking at the other Discos around town and lots of them seem to have the same problem. The paint has turned white/oxidized above the windshield above the driver & passenger sides, in front of the 1st sunroof, driver & pass sides & in front of the 2nd sunroof driver & passenger sides. Also between the 2nd sunroof & end of roof. I keep it washed & waxed regularly, don't park under trees & until the last yr, under a carport most of the time. I live about 30 miles from the Gulf coast, don't know if this contributes. I found a body shop that will fix the roof & a small R rear ding for $350 but I wanted to know if this is a common problem, maybe a Manufacture defect. Sorry for the long post!!

Both of mine have this problem. I am going to have 1 of them repainted soon.

Mines a 2001 D2. I guess there's no hope of any factory repair. I think I'm getting a pretty good deal from the body shop.

Just had the roof on my 97 repainted. It's British Racing Green and had oxidized badly. I've seen others with the same problem, though it seems like it's the darker colors that have this problem - I don't recall seeing a silver or white one like this.

monk - did you have just the roof painted, or the whole truck?

I had the roof completely done. They also redid the top of the right front fender carrying it to just under the top edge of the crease mid-way down. Then they did a spot on the right rear corner just blending it in. My truck still needs a good paint cleaner/wax - some of the rear panels are showing their age. I was close to rust on top so that was my main objective. Overall they did a great job even though they had trouble matching the paint and had to send out to a different shop (they went the extra mile on this instead of trying to just get by).

My WHITE '00 has done it. If you look at it.......I just about lines up perfectly with your windshield wiper fluid sprayers on the hood. I bought mine used so I just assumed that some dumbass put acid or something in the fluid reservoir.

Interesting observation. The body shop is supposed to have mine ready on Friday. It doesn't get very cold here in the winter so no more washer fluid in the reservoir, just plain water.
