Default P 38 engines

How are the p38 engines ? Do they have the same issues as the disco 4.6 do ?
Just looking at options for my disco

from my research, however limited, they do not.

that being said, the cooling system is slightly different and less convoluted than the D2's is.

but everything i read said the P38s got the better 4.6 blocks and the D2s were left with the blocks more prone to slipping liners and cracking.

They can suffer from the same fate. Just depends on how it was maintained and typically a Range Rover got better service vs some Discovery's due to owners with deeper pockets honestly. It's said the RR got better blocks, but that just depends on what rolled off the line and into the vehicle. I personally prefer 4.0's to 4.6's but that's just me.
