Funny thing is no P0301 or P0307

Recently replaced plug wires.

Why would I get all those misfires at once.

Truck starts up weird. Engine races up, then down, then up again at startup. When if finally calms down, it is running rough.

Coil Packs?

Oh yeah, still chasing down a P0171 and P0174, P01174 Issue. Replace the MAF about a year ago. Could it be related?

how old is your battery? would probably be a good idea to test it.

Its the coils - they are siamesed coils that fire in pairs. 1 and 7 are a pair, if you want to test you swap left and right and you should see the codes move.

1. What plug wires did you use? These engines are very sensitive to low quality plug wires.

2. It sounds like you might have a vacuum leak, exhaust leak, or both. You're only getting a fuel trim code on Bank 2, which would generally lead me to think the exhaust is leaking on that side. But you're too lean on both sides, which is generally an intake issue. Could also be a MAF problem, but MAF issues are typically accompanied by a P0734 code.

I used Magnacore wires. Smoke tested and didn't see anything. I'm wondering if i might have Intake manifold gasket issue.

Could my vacuum issues result in all the misfires? I wouldn't see how.

Well, deleted all the codes and then cranked it cold today and almost immediately got cyl 3, 5, and 6 misfires.

Coil Packs?

When's the last time you changed your plugs?

Also, this is going to sound childish, but are you sure you installed the plug wires properly?

Generally speaking, if you replace a part and something immediately starts going wrong, it's far more likely to be the part you just installed then something that was working fine until now. Unless this was happening before, in which case, yeah, probably coil packs.

Yep, installed the plug wires properly. I actually did that months ago, so this is not a immediate symptom.

Any other ideas before I start purchasing parts and tearing this thing apart.

Any recommendations or don'ts for coil packs?

Well, went to crank the truck yesterday to pull into the garage and start working and the battery was dead. Tested the battery and alternator and found the alternator was putting out low voltage.

I'm guessing this may be the problem and will address this first before moving forward.
