Default Misfire, changed wires and plugs... Whats next?

Just bought a 2004 D2, 77K from a Japanese guy that spoke no english. He told me, as best he could, that it needed a new motor, no compression, and misfiring.

No internal tapping or clanking noises, only misfiring. Some oil leaking around valve covor/SAI on Drivers side. Actually still drives OK, has pick up, but rough. Oil is clean as is coolant.

SES is blinking.

Codes its throwing:

P1300
P0303
P0306
P0305

after changing to 8mm STI wires and Bosch platinum 4s.

I have read many threads and I could attack a variety of the possibilities(CPS, O2 sensors, MAF, etc), but does anybody have a sensible checklist in order of importance/economy?

I don't mind spending money on the car, but want to do it wisely.

I did find that there is an exhaust leak on the passenger side at the header/Y pipe junction (missing two bolts). Ordered the bolts and will put them and a new gasket in tomorrow. If this does not magically fix the issue...

What next?

Thank you in advance.

What about the coil packs? Do the cylinder misfires share the same coil pack?

What are those codes you posted? Figure out if they are associated with a single coil pack if so you've got a bad pack.

I don't think they do:

P1300 catalyst damaging level
P0303 cylinder 3 misfire
P0306 cylinder 6 misfire
P0305 cylinder 5 misfire

5 and 3 are on the same coil, but 6 is not.

Thanks for the quick suggestion.

I'm guessing the plug wires are not seated properly either on the coil packs or on the plugs.

I should have mentioned, same codes as before I changed the wires and plugs, I was doing that to get rid of them!

I've been driving my Disco since 2008 and the only thing that has ever made my SES light blink like the turn indicator was when my Throttle Body Heater Plate was leaking coolant all over the Crank Position Sensor. Not saying you have a leak(I don't know...You might) but what I am saying is that the crank sensor not reading right for any reason, including just failure in general, will cause the SES light to blink and the engine run rough. Check that sensor.

I guess that is the next one to check?

Not making any promises on it, but I do know that if that sensor reads incorrectly for whatever reason, it DOES make the SES blink on and off just like the turn indicator. Are you losing any coolant?

I fixed my leak and the blinking SES quit about 5 hours later.

I haven't driven the car enough to tell, but no coolant on the ground.

Also, there is oil on the drivers side SAI assembly, no sure if it's coming from the SAI, or what.

No smoke out the tailpipe.
