P0301,P0306,P1300 need help!
Hey Guys,
yesterday my wife was backing out of the garage and the engine shuttered and gave her a code of P0301, I cleared the code with my scangauge and it came back today along with P0306, and P1300 I have ordered new wires (Magnecor 8mm) and will get some plugs tonight.
I hope I am headed in the right direction but would like some help. And what kind of plugs should I get?
I also just cut off the resonator, thought I would point that out just in case.
thanks guys
p.s. if NiteTrain is reading this be nice.

That is one of the least informed suggestions I've heard on here, and that's saying a lot.
Most people don't replace several hundreds of dollars worth of non-wear items without any diagnostics at all.

Yeeeeeeep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
Ur correct.
Well I thought that maybe this person had properly diagnosed the vech.
They did say that they ordered wires and were asking about plugs.
I jumped in to quick with the coils.
Sorry

2004 discovery 94000 miles. Looks like wires were replaced at one time because there is tape with numbers on each wire. They are 7 mm but looks like it's been awhile. Have not pulled any plugs & was running 89 octane added octane booster so far codes have not returned
Opinions vary but I don't know anyone that I trust that believe in octane booster. Spend the money on premium fuel. Also, switch to 8mm Magnecor wires... it does matter. You need to pull your plugs, if any of them look steam-cleaned, you could have a leaking head gasket. Otherwise, the condition of the plug itself can potentially tell you what's up.
In short, pull the plugs, if they all look kosher, switch to 8mm and replace all the plugs. If that doesn't fix your codes, come on back and post up.

After you install new plugs and wires, use only 91 plus octane, put a can of b&g's 44k in the tank and do a induction cleaning, then with your mileage do the rest of the major service your truck really needs.
I will be changing the wires this weekend and plugs, but which plugs do our trucks like the best???
I will only be running 91 octane or better from now on. I used the Lucas octane boost just because I trust the name. I will be driving it all day today to see if the codes return.
The PO had the head gasket replaced and cam shaft at 72,967 miles buy LR dealer in KC (Land Rover-Jaguar of Merriam). since I have owned it I have changed fluids in the diffs and transfer case, oil to mobile 1 0w40 and mobile filter, new paper air filter form LR installed a scan gauge II and an oil pressure gauge, cleaned the throttle body replaced the front brakes and rotors (will be doing the pads again with a better quality) I have not done the seafoam induction yet but will now make it a priority. I will also be flushing the brake fluid when replace the pads.
I was going to have the transmission flushed through the dipstick but found out it doesn't have one. So I am not sure how to get it all out. I am certain I can drop the pan and change the filter, but what about all the fluid in the converter??? I have also installed a flush kit for the the antifreeze but have not done it yet, dealer but dexcool back in. I would also like to change the thermostat out with a cooler one (do they make one??) I want to do what ever I can to baby the head gasket. Scan gauge has me running between 200 215, 185 would be nice.
I love this truck!!! So any advice to keep her nice would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Do not have anyone flush the tranny unless you want to kill it.
Quit using that 0W 40 oil, not for your engine. Consider switching to Rotella's best 15W/40 for the better oil additives it has.
You really need to quit making changes that don't work on a D2, no t/stat temp. changes, using only stock. Why would 185 be nice, do you have any idea how these engines are designed and where they need to be????????????????? Go down load a free copy of a Rave CD and read the 700 or so pages front to rear before you have any more brain storms.
By the way, if you want to do something benefical to your truck, crawl under the front drive shaft and see how many grease fittings you can count, if only 1, then that front shaft has to be rebuilt or replaced before it fails and kills your tranny.

started up the rover this morning and it ran like crap! all the codes came back and brought some friends P0304 P0316. Is this a pattern that tells anyone anything? wires are not here yet and still wondering what kind of plugs to get. Anyone running the E3 plugs??
thanks mike for jumping in and the info. I am an Amsoil fan and they have a 10W/40 High Zinc formula that they recommend for our trucks, is anyone running this oil????
As for the tranny mike how do you suggest I change the fluid? is it just drain refill run for awhile and do it again and so on?
I will pull the plugs tonight and report back.
