I replaced my coil packs with wires and plugs this weekend and used Extinct Motorsports kit to relocate and it looks great. Sadly not all the wires sent fit and I had to reuse some plug wires and one burnt out on cylinder 4 yesterday so I put a swapped a new plug wire over there after inspecting the plug. After letting it idle I took if for a drive and the code popped back up so I went home, let it cool down, then started it back up and it isn't throwing the code anymore. Any ideas of what could be causing this issue.

Also, while checking things after the drive I had it idling and heard an awful squeal then the water Temps skyrocketed. Is this possibly a water pump failure? The fan clutch seemed to be OK unless I checked it wrong.

 

Different trucks have different stackup of engine-frame-body and that results in some different clearance between the hood and the coil packs. Of our 5 development trucks one had a clearance issue at the rear of the hood brace. As far as the squealing noise I would check your idler pulleys and bearings. If something seized it will cause your belt to squeal. I've contemplated designing a raised hood for my Disco or see if someone else has done one. Now as far the insulator; I do HVAC for a living and I can get a sheet of 1/2 armaflex to put on the underside of the hood do you think that would work or should I see about getting an OEM replacement? My goal is to try and get this thong completely restored over the next few years.

 

I originally tested spacing the hood up to on my one truck with the clearance issue, but I did not see customers liking the aesthetics. What we have found is in the few trucks with the clearance issue it is usually only the rear two coil towers and that is why I include the insulator. As your hood has no underhood insulation you may need something to keep sparks from jumping to the hood. I would be carefull with armaflex due to the heat resistance, the OEM stuff is fiberglass so it is very heat resistant but not very electrically insulation. You don't want anything that can melt and catch fire due to the heat.

 

I just ordered some sound deadening/heat shield from Amazon for under the hood. I took the next 2 days off so I plan on making the modification listed in the instructions. Thanks for the help.
