Anyone ever kill a camshaft position sensor after doing a timing cover job? Like from cleaning the cover with gas and carb cleaner etc. When I started the disco after the job I got the p0340 code. I pulled the sensor back out and cleaned it off, it did have some gunk on it. Cleaned the plug. Put it back in and ran, code immediately comes back. I examined as much of the wiring as I could and have found zero issues. I installed the new timing chain with arrows pointing at each other. Not sure how you can mess it up.

Ok....After reading many p0340 threads on this forum yesterday, 99% of the answered/solved posts were people finding something wrong with there wiring, like fried against the passenger side exhaust manifold, OR the code would just magically go away. So...my point of attack was to expose as much of the wiring as I could, after removing the crispy plastic sheathing and old stretched electrical tape, I finally got down to the two pigtail off shoots, one goes to the oil pressure sending unit, the other to the cam position sensor, when I slid the factory plastic wire loom sleeve back off the CPS, one of the wires came with it! The wire pulled right out of the plug. So very excited to find that! I was able to plug the wire back into the connector and feel a positive lock. I ran the engine for 10 minutes without getting the code, so Im pretty sure that was the problem. I will be able to drive the rig later today and really see...
