Default P1884 - What is it?

Purchased my Rover in Feb., did a bunch of work to it since it was leaking in all the usual places, and needed fluids and other maintenance items replaced as it had no service history. Pretty much did the VC gaskets, the 60-100k maintenance as suggested on the forum, along with some pulleys and other odds and ends.

Prior to all the work, I had zero SES light. SES light came on once, but I think that was from putting too much E85 in it. Ended up clearing itself after a couple tanks of gas...

While trying to get the SAI hoses off, I ended up ruining one of the corrugated hoses, so I took the SAI off entirely. I expected to get codes related to SAI, but that's not what I'm getting. After driving 5k miles or so with the SES light on, I decided to see what the codes were.

I'm getting a P1884 which shows up as a Dodge / Jeep code on my scanner (Torque app). So it's not providing any useful info, and a Google search wasn't much help either.

I'm also getting two other codes which have me scratching my head...
One is for the intake air temp sensor (don't remember exact code) and the other one is for the MAF.

I looked for an IAT sensor and can't find it, so the logical conclusion is that it's built into the MAF..? The MAF is plugged in and working fine to my knowledge, there are no driveability issues, truck runs great and gets good gas mileage. Tried clearing them and they came back.

So I'm a bit stumped as to the two codes, but also wondering what P1884 might be referring to? Any help would be appreciated. Edit: vehicle is a 2000 Disco II with about 115k on it. I bought it at 106k miles.

Since you removed your SAI most likely the P1884 has to do with the engine temp sensor or related to the MAF. Do a google search on Land Rover P1884 you will find a lot of posts about this code.

Dude,
Looks like you did not plug in the temp sensor on the air cleaner box.
or that sensor is bad.

You gotta get your http://enginecodemaster.com on bro...

Looks like you got:

Engine Code: p1884

Land Rover Engine Code: P1884 = (37) CAN message: Engine air intake temperature invalid No apparent effect. On Off.

Click to Process more Land Rover Engine Codes here

Remember

Had no idea there was an IAT on the intake box... That's probably the problem, but I didn't see any loose connectors...?

I thought because the MAF had like 5 or 6 wires to it, that the IAT was part of it. I stand corrected. Thanks for the response!

No dice.. There's no air temp sensor on my intake box. No loose connectors either. Anyone know for sure where the IAT sensor is located?

This morning I posted a page on someone else's thread that lists all of possible meanings of p1884. You need a more advanced scanner to get the real code.

Anyway, there is an air intake temp sensors, but it's built into the MAF. But that is only one of about 8 possible codes the P1884 could be related to.
