P1884 (Landrover): CAN message WFPDK (DKI) invalid (FFh).The controller area network (CAN), a high speed serial interface for transmitting information between ECU's, has detected an invalid fault code.

I think it might be related to a bad MAF, not too sure though.

Heard that a GENUINE maf can get rid of all your codes. If I am not wrong, you should have either
1) P0171+P0174
or
2) P0172+P0175
as well.

Yes, but not the 1884.
What are the other codes, for the MAF, are you getting?

I Believe it was P102 but when I cleared the DTCs it hadn't come up again. I will have to go back to schucks and see if the code came up again.

Default P1884 with MA P0102 & P1663

I was trying to track down a stalling issue. Loosing spark after a few minutes of idling. I intially had no codes. I took appart the Mass Air components, but left connected. the 2000 LRII ran fine with everything open. However I caught the following coded P0102, P1663 and P1884.

That would translate to loss of spark after truck starts to warm up? Don't see how MAF would be involved. The hood being open (assumption on my part) might let engine compartment be a little cooler, the CKP (crank shaft postion sensor) when failing frequently opens up at temperature and resets when cooled off, even with a cup of cold water poured on it. 1884 is a catch all code that has sub codes for the tranny, it does not like the engine data being sent to it. Do you have a Discovery 2?

P0102 is MAF out of range based on rpm (expected if dismantled)
P1663 is hill descent link to SLABS open circuit

Sometimes you'll get CAN communication codes when the battery has been removed or is very low on voltage. I usually write them down, clear them, and only worry about them if they come back, especially on a vehicle that has been sitting or has had the battery recently replaced.

My 1999 used to do this when I had a bad battery, and before I had fixed the running problems it would sit for extended periods of time and run the battery down.
