Default parked facing downhill in the rain...LEAK!

in-laws were in town so left the kids with them and took wifey out to her fav japanese place. backed into the only available space which happened to point the nose of my 2002 DII downhill during this steady moderate rain (changing to snow tonight, please!).

Come out from the meal and the radio is going berserk..what the? wow, there is a puddle in the lil storage tray thingy at the top center of the dash and a pretty steady leak from where the mirror mounts to the headliner/windshield/roof-line area.

typically, in its reduced role, it is parked in just the opposite direct, with the tail pointed downhill and this is the first ive noticed of any leak. is this a sunroof drain leak or?

OH! and the radio wasn't putting out any sound, but had a headphones symbol on the display panel...i have headphone jacks somewhere??

thanks much!

Turn the stereo off and let it dry out for a few days.
Wiggle your roof rails and see if they are loose as well as check the seals on them.
It is common for them to work loose and/or the seals to dry rot and leak.
The rails bolt directly to the roof.

thanks, spike! radio was acting goofy...alpine model with the 6 disc under-seat changer...didn't respond to requests to power down for the first several times, but eventually did. displayed the never-before-seen headphones symbol in the mean time.

anyway, will look at the roof rack rails tomorrow..preshate it!

Better deal with your leaking front sun roof drain pipes before you get more of the dash wet and really shut things down.

I would imagine the front sunroof drain is either clogged, disconnected, or cracked at the mount where the hose mounts into. I just had my rear sunroof leak repaired, funny how after 1.5 yrs of ownership I developed a leak from above the passenger side B pillar. With the headliner removed, I found there was no hose for the passenger side drain tube, wtf? Anyways, installed a tube, sealed the area around the roof drain nipple. So far so good. By the way, this is the time to replace your headliner since it is out of the truck

Mine did the same thing.
It was leaking at the top of the windshield.

When you pull the head liner down to check the drain tubes get a hose and check the windshield.

have a hour or two of work ahead of me it seems...need some warmer weather or my wife's garage queen is gonna have to sit out in the cold for once!

preshate all the heads up...honestly, coming right up on a year of ownership, 10k miles of various driving (1500 miles nashville to tampa and back roadtrip, several hundred miles into the appalachians and around fire service roads, and more than i can remember) this is the first reactive repair i've had to make. i had the dealership do the headgaskets before I purchased and i put in a toddco front driveshaft not long after i got it.

of course, i've changed all fluids and other routine maintenance, but these things are solid!
