Disco 2 - 2003

An update on the water in footwell , before I start I better mention that the red you are seeing is food colouring I used this to make it easier to see where the water was travelling etc.

I tested the windscreen, power washed etc etc and no water is entering the cabin. I've covered the Air Intake with Perspex so no water coming in behind the glove box.

I am stil getting water in footwell so after a bit of digging I found a Drain hole to be blocked which is only accessible from underneath the vehicle & sits roughly inline with the passenger door . I cleared this with some thin wire and all the water that was trapped had come tricking out at some speed and I managed to collect approx 300 / 400 ml of water, this indicates to me there must be a pocket where the water sits but where ?

I have been told there is another drain hole round about that area but can't locate it any idea ??

Before I cleared the drain hole from underneath water was seeping through the seams as in pic which indicated water being held somewhere for it to overflow into footwell now that I have cleared the drain hole I never had a great amount of water in cabin but enough to see it's still seeping in.

I am paying more attention on the passenger door as it's definitely coming in from there as I tested only the door & frame with water etc. Could it be the door check strap seals or the wiring loom which is letting water trickle in & cause the water ingress ??

Lastly I did notice the rubber strip that is attached to the pillar of the passenger door has come away from the body , it looks as if it was held in place with double sided would this be right & could that let water in also ?

See pic below

I can only think that when it's raining water is running down the front of the passenger door where it meets the front wing and is tricking in through the doors wiring loom or door check strap ?

Any advice be much
appreciated

Could it be from the sunroofs? I believe there is a pipe that comes from the sunroofs and ends somewhere in the front but not sure of the exact location.

The HVAC condensation drain tubes go through the cabin console area and come out under the truck in the same spot of both sides of the transmission hump. When those drain holes plug the water (usually stale) backs up and leeks onto the interior floor and can leak onto both the drivers and passenger side. Originally there was a rubber nipple in those holes but in many cases those are long gone. the nipple was to keep debris out. You cleared the line correctly with a thin stiff wire.

Proper servicing of the nipples used to be a routine thing, but many new owners don't know about that... They should be regularly cleared, once a year or so.

Guys I removed the sunroof hose from there so it’s not that & Dave you mentioned the HVac would that cause this as it only occurs when it’s raining or being washed.

If you cleared a clog of the HVAC drain tube enough to spray out then yes that would make your floor wet or damp. Possibly you have more than one issue of the AC is dehumidifying the carpet better when it isn't raining.

Hey Dave , I don’t use the AC at all , I did clear a drain hole just under the passenger door area from underneath and that had a lot of water stored.

This is the hole I cleared and when I washed the Disco again only a small amount of water entered the cabin , which makes me think it’s the passenger door check strap rubber mounts or the wiring loom where water is tricking down through the hole ?

Check the top, outside corner, by the windshield. That corner sometimes comes unsealed, if you cover that corner with silicon, it may clear it up.

there can also be a leak in the seam in the windshield valley gutter which runs down onto top of access cover on passenger firewall and causes leak right into footwell....

there can be a leak in the fresh air intake opening at bottom of windshield, then drips right into the cabin fan housing then into footwell....
