Default Patched Tire

Is a patched tire weaker off road? I found a nail in my tire and got it patched yesterday, im concerned it wont be as tough off road, but I dont know for sure. I dont do any rock climbing, just minor obstacles are all I have come accross, and plan on coming accross! Any input?

Just wrote you a whole paragraph and the forum won't take it[:@]To sum it, if plugged, its o.k. if patched, I think it's also o.k as long as you don't air down too much.

worked in a tire shop for a few years. we never used plugs because they can get pulled out. i once patched a huge off-road tire for a friend. the hole was actually too big by standards to patch but he never had a problem with it. ps this forum is sucking lately

patches are better than plugs..you should be fine off-road as long as the hole was in the tread and not in the side wall.

i would never deal with a shop that ever offered to do a sidewall patch. also, I did numerous patches over the time I worked at the shop and never had to redo one. if done right it should hold up fine.
