Pic of gear selector

I pulled the cover off the gear selector because it would just not budge to get to the locked diff, can anyone tell me if this is what their 04 looks like that has the locking diff??

Yup. That's how it should look. Try PB blaster on the linkage cable underneath.

Where do I need to apply the PB blaster? I don't have to take the whole center console out do I?

No. Spray down that opening you showed above and/or climb under the truck and see if you can apart the linkage mechanism.

Cardboard on the ground before spraying if you are somewhere it matters. It's going to drip to the ground.
