Default That plastic leaking t fitting

hello all. First post here. So the coolant bleeder screw broke in half. Ran to the hardware store and picked up an m-10 bolt to get home. Now I’m seeing a hair line crack in the t itself. Ordered upper hose assembly from ab and should be here Monday.
So the question is: how much coolant is going to come out when I pull the hoses? Is there a drain **** to avoid a big mess?

No way to avoid the mess. Just pull the hoses. You might need 2 liters to refill and properly bleed.

Thanks! I was afraid of that. Well that’s what’s it going to be then. Maybe some sort of tray under the car will help?

Stick a shopvac on the upper T and suck as much out as possible. It helps prevent a huge mess.

I use a brass bleed screw as well. No more broken or stripped plastic screw.

Thanks, Jeff. Unfortunately it’s too late for that. The T itself has a hairline crack in it. So the whole thing gets replaced. Besides that I fear expansion rates might be different for the brass vs the plastic housing. I would like to know how yours is fearing as time passes.

I've run the brass screw for over two years. It's a better option.

About two years as well, no issues.

Great to know! Then that’s the way to go after changing out the T. I’ll get that ordered. I’m thinking that T’s been there a long time and is pretty brittle. A fresh one will be more flexible?
