imo it plays well with the other trim pieces and pillars

 

white on white isn't bad, I had red on red until I changed wheels.
the monochromatic scheme sets them off from every other disco.

 

The only issue is my Chawton white next to lets say a white non pearl toyota camry looks cream. I dont want my rims to be off from the chawton. I think I'm going to Plastidip black and the use the glossifier to give them shine.

 

do them in white plastic dip then top coat with chawton white, that way they will match the truck and you can still remove it if you don't like it.

You can't spray ACTUAL paint on top of plastidip, it doesn't work well like that. Unless of course you like spending a full day peeling 4 wheels!

 

In my opinion, the big advantage to Plastidip is having the ability to peel it off if you don't like it. I see the youtube videos of guys plastidipping their wheels and entire cars. I tried a small battery cover on a motorcycle I recently bought, and it was rubbing off after the first ride from my leg rubbing on it. Yes, I did let it cure for a few days before putting it on the bike.

I wonder how well it would hold up on wheels??

 

It holds up great on wheels, and yes, that is why people use it rather than paint.

 

I Have a 96' Disco in Alpine white. I did my stock rims in black, turned out great. I have had them for 3 months, washed probably 8 times and no issues. I also did the plastic corners on my bumpers and they look awesome.

I am a new member so I cant post pics yet, but maybe this posting will get me closer!

Just remember to de-grease whatever you are doing with the plasti dip or it will shrink and pull off the item.

They also have a clear topcoat called, I believe, Glossifier that will make your job look more stain than flat.

I was took my rims off, laid the lugs inside and sprayed them, then removed the lugs and peeled the excess off of the lugs and the tires. By leaving the lugs I made sure that the coating wouldn't peel up when the lugs are tightened on it.

I also dripped sweat right onto the job I was doing, grabbed a towel, wiped up the sweat area and proceeded to spary over that area with no issues. I love Plasti-Dip, I think I will try and get a job repping them!
