ok, im going to remove and clean and check the wires of my ignition coils to hopfully repair the P1316 code.... i need the wiring layout so i dont mess things up when i put back together... 96 disco 4.0

 

is your engine mis firing do you know what the p1316 code is i have a 2003 disco and had my engine light come on and found out it was a misfire wires looked fine thought it was a fuel ingector added the seafoam ran a little better engine soon light would go off time 2 time then i replaced my wires that fixed it all also did plugs and air filter runs like new

 

Error code 1316- Definition: Spark plug voltage detection circut fault- left bank (2)
Probable causes:
1- poor connection at spark plug voltage detection module
2- open or short circut between VDM and ECM

ok, what the hell does this mean? i had bank 2 sensor 1 code and replaced the sensor, then replaced the plugs and wires. this code comes up and i recheck everything and is ok... truck wants to die when i come to a park or stop.
other land rover sites have mentioned that its an excessive misfire. dont know what to do, air filter is great, next thought was to remove coils check connections and clean. to replace the coils is about 600bucks.

 

wires new? did plugs? check engine light on how does it idle at a dead stop? have you taken out your plugs to see how they have been burning and maybe try to trace the problem to a cylinder or do you think the coil is to blame how many miles does your truck have on ot

 

truck idles really low almost dies at a dead stop. dont know how to check what cylinder it might be.. 130000miles..
