25 buck eurospare 180 thermostat. Properly maintained cooling system. Temps 188 F at steady speeds >35mph and below 200 F all other times with engine operating.

183 to 190 driving ~60 degrees ambient
187 to 194 driving ~85 degrees ambient
Highest I got was 206 or so idling 5 mins with ac on in 80 degrees
Stock as far as I know, 308k miles with a little rp purple ice added
Have to change hose soon, will probably eliminate thermostat

02 Kalahari: 180F (generic) runs 184-188F at 40-60MPH, 65-80MPH is 193-200F, idle 200-204F with a TF front bumper, skid, and warn M8000
99 D2: 180F (Genuine) runs 186-188F at 40-60MPH, 65-80MPH is 188-195F idle 193-198F
98 D1 OEM temp, original thermostat, 193-206F tops thru all conditions.
All are running green coolant, and I believe the higher temps on the 02 are due to the added bumper/winch and skid which is reducing clean airflow. I live in SETX with almost 100% humidity and extreme heat.

04-D2,, Britpart soft spring (black housing) sold as 180* (but stat is stamped 78*c=174f)
Has been installed on truck over a year & I have changed coolant every year with Preston green, it works better than trying to flush system,,, street speed's runs 183-185,, stopped at light 189max,,
Fwy no AC 184-187,,, fwy AC on 186-190,,
I tried to get it as hot as it will go parked (25 min) ideling AC on, at 90* ambient , goes up & down every 35 to 45 seconds, between 190-198f,,
But want to do inline mod soon, will try to eliminate going over 188, & see if it will work,

As long as your D2 isn't going past 210F running down the road or at idle you'll be fine.

Running cool is one thing, running to cool is another. The ECU is setup for a certain temp range. If you run to cool your D2 will think it's cold and run a rich condition, your MPG will suffer, and eventually it'll mess up your O2 sensors and cats.
As long as your D2 is going past 210F running down the road or at idle you'll be fine.

Does any one here know for a fact what is the correct lowest temp that ECU doesn't consider too cold,? That will be very helpful for all of us to know,,
(I know British tuners run these engines in sports cars between 165 to 177*F, for best power & most reliability, but they also change oil very often to prevent sludge & map their ECU's for correct fueling or use carburetor' with corrected fuel mixture,)
