the screw connectors are just for mock up.... when i'm ready to weld... i'm going to slide a tube over the 3/4 tube and weld the joints together

I'm sure the welder knows better than to hover over the welds and inhale the fumes. I like your plan. It should turn out nice. EMT won't be as strong as thicker pipe, but so what. You have it already and how strong does it need to be anyway? It will be lighter and that's a nice benefit. Let's see some pictures when you're done.

I just got into this, but I think for all of the work you are doing, EMT just won't be strong enough. It will dent easily and may just collapse when you load it down....

That's what I thought too, but it looks like he is going another way now. Either way I want to see pictures.

should i even bother with a bar running around the gutter area of the truck ? and deal with more welding or should i just find a way to mount the basket rather then incorporate it into a bar around the truck

buy the parts kit from the dealer or atlantic british. I believe they still sell the hardware separate.

Bingo - that's what I would try first. I have to say that rack will look pretty good once you get it done and it fits pretty good, size wise. And for $40, damn that's awesome, what do you think it was for or off of???

Most racks come with the hardware to install on the suv or car
Ask the dealer .
