Possible Coolant loss
Hello all I am struggling with a possible new coolant leak. 1st some background,
- I bypassed the throttle body heater as it was heater as the gasket was leaking and having no indoors garage I do not have a nice dry place to work. No issues were noted after this issue
- The bleeder screw cracked resulting in in the nice duct tape fix below - 80 km from home, at midnight loads of fun. But no coolant loss the entire trip home normal temps for my Disco 188 to 190
- Stripped the duct tape off inspected the screw, cracked just under the head and picked up 3 that were the same from BMW's at a wrecker.
- Installed the new screw and brought the Disco up to temp no issues no leakage noted
- Drove about 200 km temps were solid
- Checked the coolant the morning and I as was down about .75 to 1 inch
-
Duct tape for the win
I do pre-flight checks on my LR's (any of my vehicles actually as it's just habit). I think of an older LR like an old DC-3. Sure when parked they seep, but with the fluids topped off properly, and once up to operating temp it's all good to go.
Thanks for all the replies helps with my OCD
After a good 1.5 hour drive combined hi-way and a bit of off road and some twisty up hills as well as exercising the transfer case no issues. Checked this Am and Coolant level is solid no movement at all in the level. Engine temps ran as per normal 188 -190 up to 197 on long idles. Checked for leaks several times as noted above and no problems or evidence of leaks.
Once again thanks all for your replies, my wife swears I worried more about this truck than I worried about our house in 100km winds all our very high (70 to 100'), close to the house cedar trees dancing around
