Potential safety issues with all D2's
I found this information in the RAVE today while reading. I don't know if this is common knowledge or not but I was totally unaware of it. According to the RAVE all D2's would be affected since even the youngest of them are now 10years old.
From pg.58
SRS info.pdf
Do I really need to replace my air bags?
How likely are they not to deploy in an accident and is this a big safety issue that I should worry about?

Some Mercedes and Volvo cars have an actual "expiration date" on a label next to the tire placard (door jamb). I have no reason to believe they would cease to function after 10 years. Its the lawyer and liability society that we live in. Same reason your McDonald's coffee has to say "HOT".

I'm not aware of any airbags that failed to deploy after 10 years and resulting law suits because mfgs were told to include replacement as part of the service requirements but chose to ignore the NHTSA.
Not saying it's not the case, but I haven't heard of any.
