Default Power seat issues

Ok drivers side seat works strangely.
all functions only work at half movement when first get in. Start and run the vehicle stop and go shopping come back and then seats work normal. This is intermittently doing this. And frustrating for my wife.
any thoughts ??

what do you mean 'half movement'? they only go half way up the track, or the buttons only have half function (forward, not reverse)........

You can clean the fuses. You can "unplug/plug in" the big grey plug and brown plug under the seat a few times. You can clean the switch /harness connections.....maybe your switch is worn out....

the basic layout for wiring is that Power goes to the seat via the brown plug, and the grey plug just forward/reverses current to the motors....

what it is doing is the normal travel works sometimes and others it moves about half or so it’s normal travel.

so mechanical or electrical. Do the motors sound strained compared to other side? If no, then follow above and start cleaning contact points. Fuses are under the seat front end.

it doesn’t sound like a binding on something issue more like a lack of power strain.

Would the passenger side switch work with the drivers side if I move them around?

no. they are semi-mirror images(I think this was my pin guide EU switches with full 8 way on both). and the harness is slightly different too...different sized grey plugs....most commonly in USA, the passenger seat is a 4 way, while the driver is an 8 way....

If you have an 8 way passenger, then maybe you can test it out, but you have to pull the seats to get the harnesses out.....

If you think it is a switch, they are only a few $$'s on ebay.... you can test switch continuity using a multimeter. The wires run in 'pairs' but I don't remember which ones go together....
