My CB is 14 years old, always hooked up to the ignition and left on all the time. Never had a problem with it until I started screwing around internally trying to get more power. I used a fuse tap in the fuse box under the steering wheel on the radio fuse. Works great.

AK Rover or DiscoMike:

Could you provide more detail re: what I need to do to tap into one of the fuse boxes to power my Garmin GPS? (either under steering wheel or in engine comparment)

Which fuses do you recommend I tap into?

Should I buy something like this? Should I buy regular size or mini?
http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-FHA...7170332&sr=1-3

With this fuse tap, do I need a ground?

Thanks,Dustin

I'd beg to differ on that with my opinion. 99% of all aftermarket stereo installations that require low amperage 12 volt feeds do so from the dash area. The only time you run a line to the front of the vehicle is if you are drawing a lot of current like for an amp or sub woofer system and just by running 6-8 feet of wire on a DC circuit you increase your resistance. And if you want a power wire that is hot only when the key is on or in the ACC setting you are smart to go to the dash. The LR Disco has a great access panel just under the steering wheel and as long as you are using your voltage meter, DC is far easier to work with then AC!

Well, that's just my opinion.
