And you need a gasket. I like to coat it front and back with the grey high torque silicone, assemble snug when wet, let cure 24 hrs and then torque

I get the leak after only a few minutes of running the engine, I was hoping I could see it develop. If I do not run the engine, it does not seem to leak. The dye is a good idea, will try that.

If it leaks only while running it is very small. Hopefully the rear cover is not cracked

I ended up replacing the power steering pressure hose, took a while to get the transmission cooler back in, but otherwise just time consuming. A second person would save a lot of time. The bad news is that now I can see the leak is coming from the top of the power steering box I just installed. Right at the top "lid" of the box. Is that something can be re-sealed easily, while installed? The fluid is pooling up at that junction, the lid with the bleeder screw and the body of the power steering box. Bummer because I just bought the part and it was not supposed to leak. I could not find a rebuild kit that itemizes what is included. Could I just put some gasket maker on it?

Appreciate the input.

I would expect it is this part, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Rave has it listed as Cover Seal, QFW100180. However that part number pulls up an output shaft kit.

Any idea on the size, maybe i can just run to Granger to get one?

Maybe the Output Shaft seal kit includes items 8, 9 and 17, versus Input Shaft seals item 2?

Is it leaking from the adjustment screw or the cover with the 4 bolts? The cover with the 4 bolts is much more difficult to change that seal.

I changed all the seals on the steering box recently and it is a pain. Then I had a leak from the adjustment screw. I tried telfon tape and a copper crush washer and it still leaked. The solution was a Nylon insert M11-1.5 nut combined with the copper crush washer. I do a lot of driving on unpaved roads and the stock nut had loosened itself.

Leaking from screw or cover?

The seal you're talking about changing seals the outer lip here.

Those pictures are exactly what I needed right now. I am 90% sure it is the seal on the last picture. The 16mm nut around the adjustment screw just will not come lose. I broke one extension trying to loosen that nut. All the videos I found make it look much easier. That is a good idea w the crush washer, I will throw one in there when I am putting it together. I had moved recently and a box of my tools never made it to the new house, so this is taking longer than it should. I have the 15mm loose, just need that adjustment lock nut off and it looks like I can replace that seal pretty easily.

back to the drawing board.

Any advice on pulling the cover off? Shim it out and pound the adjustment screw through the cover?
thanks
