Default Power steering leak

I have a leak at the high pressure line junction with the pump. Very slight, but drips on my driveway. Is there a gasket in that junction? Could I snug it up, or is it best to replace it? I did the pump not to long ago, so won't be too hard, just curious what the board thinks.

Thanks

If you're talking about the hose that runs into the side of the pump, there's an O ring. I believe the part number is QYX100260. Not sure on dimensions of it, but it would be cheaper to source one by size.

I'm dealing with my own power steering issues at the moment as well. Always something lol

Thanks, that is the one. I snugged it up a bit and will see if that does it. I will see if i cant get the dimensions of the o-ring $4 aint bad, just if i can get one sooner.

Harbor Freight sells an assortment box, might try that.

Well, that did not work. found a gasket in the kit that looked about the right size, maybe slightly too thin. It turns out it is, made it worse. now we know. Its much smaller than the photos would lead one to believe, but a thicker gauge.

one is on order.

My favorite source for o-rings is theoringstore.com. I bought a bunch of their viton brown o-rings for my oil cooler lines (1/2 x 1/16). They carry US, metric, and Japanese sizes. It's easy to measure the old o-ring with cheap electronic calipers. The Disco is an interesting mix of US and metric sized parts, nuts, and bolts.

For the power steering, I replaced the hoses. PO kept a bottle of PS fluid under the hood, what a mess.

I think the only SAE hardware is in/on the engine, which is 1960’s Buick. I may stand to be corrected.

So after many clean and driving cycles, and the new LR high pressure hose gasket I still have a leak. The pump is newer, might still be the problem. I did seem to narrow down the location, it is not the high pressure hose and the first drip is circled below, it showing on the bolt. Any idea where I should be looking. It must be from above that bolt and leaking down on to it. I cant see where else that is.

Default Thanks

The pump is newer, so I will try the gasket. Should rtv work, or do I need a gasket?

I usually pull the pump out of the bracket and leave it connected, spray pump with brake cleaner then observe for leaks. You may want to put some up dye in the oil first and run for a few days.
