Default Power steering Leak

I have a power steering leak in a 99 disco 2. Its coming from something under the car. Not sure what it is, not a mechanic... But it is attached to a bar that goes from the drivers side to the passanger side. Its leaking from the part that attaches to the, looks to be engine. I cant tell if its the power steering pump.Anyone have any clue on how to go about getting it fixed... its leaking alot. Thanks

Pics would help as im am not a mechanic.... I can get some up if needed of where its leaking from

As you have mentioned, you are not a mechanic, hence it is time to look for a mechanic. D2 hoses are known to leak as is the pump and you don't really want to tackle them. If it is a hose, make sure some one replaces all 3 of them.

There is a recall on the ACE hoses. Take it to the dealer and see if the recall has already been performed(should cover the hoses you speak of). If not and your vehicle is under this recall, then the recall repairs are free to you.

I dont have ACE... The land rover dealer here sucks... messed up on my sisters car numerous times... Not going to them. It looks like its coming from the steering box? I cant really see the hoses to check them but it looks like its coming from the bolt at the bottom any ideas?

Have you cleaned that area? You can use a power steering stop leak, just dont use any more than half the bottle.

I wouldn't recommend any kind of stop leak for any kind of fluid, all they do is cause blockages and more leaks in the future due to excessive pressure. It sounded like he might have had ACE due to the description(wasn't very clear and still isn't). Oil leaks from the engine can get onto the steering gear box and look like a power steering leak. What color is the fluid? ACE or power steering fluid turns from green to yellow-brown.

I would suggest you power scrub the engine, top and bottom, get under and clean the hear bos as well as the hose so you will know for sure what is leaking.

Sounds like the common problem of the steering box output shaft seals have gone, thats why you see fluid on the big nut. There is a "seal" kit you can get from land rover and you can replace them, how ever it is a 50-50 chance it will leak again in the future. The best fix is a new / overhauled steering box.
