Default power steering pump 99 disc series1

its seems that the power steering pump on my 99 disc s-1 has chosen to take the weekend off...so i have 2 questions:

1. will it hurt any part of the vehicle if i drive it w/o the pump working ? I drove it around a parking lot, and it just seems like driving an old truck w/o power steering.

2. when replacing it can they get to it easily or do they need to go from underneath and remove many parts to get there ?

Oh yah as usual this happened on a friday at 5:30 pm and we are expecting a hurricane to come here to FL, which will delay any chance of getting it to a shop quickly, if anyone knows of any good LR mechanics in the west Palm beach, Fl area, Pls let me know

thanking anyone greatly in advance for any help they can give me....

John

John,

No harm done driving as is. First, be safe against the storm. Second, PS pump is accessible from above. Be sure to replaced the reservoir also. It has a filter inside.
