Default Power Steering Pump Whine

Posted to the D1 on accident,

I replaced my ps pump and bled the system. Now I have a whine tied to engine speed. Could it go away over time? Self bleeding? No bubbles in the reservoir, although I did initially.

Ran another 32 oz of fluid through it this weekend, still getting a whine. I did get some foamy fluid towards the end of the flush.

I believe rave says not to turn the wheel when bleeding, another post said to turn the wheel. I have tried both, no luck.
Cleaned everything very well.

any other ideas?

Put a hose on the bleed nipple, run it in to the tank. Run the truck and turn the wheel back and fourth until the whine stops.

I added some dex6. It's been that way for a year. I think the whine is related to the fluid being to thick.

What fluid did you use? I replaced my pump, did a flush and filled it up with Royal Purple (because it was recommended here). Now I have a slight whine at high rpm when turning the wheel. It's OK, but not perfect. Obviously the Royal Purple is not the right fluid, I should better go back to a manufacturer specified fluid.

Mine works fine with a store brand Power Steering Fluid.
