Default Power Steering update

I got the pas pump by itself and where I thought the leak was coming is wrong. So I checked the other hose and nothing so I started looking at the pump itself. I noticed fresh fluid around the gaskets so I decided to unscrew the four botls and took the pump apart. I noticed there was a gap on the gasket where the fresh fluid was coming from but now I think I need a new pump because from what Im told there are no gaskets inbetween the two parts of the pas pump. In the first picture, the gap is on the gasket on the bottom. I was thinking it was on the other side or it could have fallen off but no pices fell off when I took it apart. The 4th pic to the right is where I originally thought the leak was coming from but there is no hole inside or outside the tube.

what do yall think?

I just pulled my PAS pump, pulled it apart and rebuilt it. The seal was virtually non-existant. I cleaned it up, made a paper gasket and RTV'd the pump back together. I put some air to it the next day and it was sealed. It's been three days and no leaks

I was able to clean up one of the thin plastic seals and used the red rtv on both sides... letting it cure till tomorrow afternoon and then gonna see if it works! If not looks like Im gonna have to get one at the dealership... Its $423 minus a $110 core charge so $313 total and I dont have to wait for shipping.

Used pumps go for $80 shipped from autosports unlimited. Not sure if they have any in stock at the moment as they are a hot seller.

I would suggest to use Hondabond #4, get this at the Honda motorcycle dealer .
This is a semi permeable sealing paste
It is perfect for joining aluminum parts and is chemical resistant more so than the RTV is. IIRC a 4.5 oz tube is about 12.00.
Just make sure to remove all the oils from the assemblies to be joined, and dont use a glob as it will squeeze out, you dont want to plug up a check valve

I agree this would be a better product for sealing the pump as we use it here in our shop for a lot of "oil" related repairs, 'cuz it won't self destruct like rtv can when it comes in contact with gas or oil. It's also ava. at a Yamaha dealer as "yamabond" and the company that makes it is called Threebond their product number is 1194......good stuff to have around
