I have a 03 Discovery S with leather seats. I have the wiring harness under the center cover plate. Tried a friends switch and it lights up but the seats don't get warm. Can it be that my year and trim doesn't have the seat heat pads installed?

 

I'm not certain of the NA spec but I believe the ES (HSE in the US) has heated seats as standard and on lower specs D2's it's an optional extra. I may be wrong but this info is based upon the UK specs.

I have read that the S models did not come with heated seats(s models are not leather, they are Pleather)... But I had an S model and I installed the switches and they heated up.

Try contacting Atlantic British and see if they can look up your VIN and give you some info.

They state that all "leather" seats came with the heaters.

 

As far as I know all the "S" models came with the vinyl seats that did not have the heater elements, my 2004 "S" has vinyl. Eventually I plan on getting a set of leather seats for it and supposedly all the leather seats have the heater elements. One quick way to identify one from the other is that the leather seats have attached armrests where as the vinyl do not.
