Prep for paint job: what to know, avoid?
Wanting to give my Landy a layer of new paint. What do you recommend for prep work for a shop that will do a decent job (not Maaco). I want to do prep work myself so that the shop won't screw up delicate rover parts. Here is my list so far:
- Remove bumpers, lights, spare tire/carrier/ladder, plastics, door handles, mud flaps
- Remove the air intake cowling
- Remove all plastic gutter/rail pieces
- Remove the bars for the roof rack
Anything else? If you have repainted your Disco, I would appreciate any tips, pictures, etc. Thank you!

Just out of curiosity, did you take off the panels and bring the car to the shop on the truck bed or did the shop allow you to take off the trims/etc on premises?
